After MCP’s Release, the Forum’s MCP-Only Tier and ‘What’s Next’: a Thread Is Not a Plan and Not a Rollout
There is no official ‘MCP-only’ plan on Bubble. The idea started as a pricing request from a community member, and Bubble hasn’t rolled anything out. Here is what non-technical founders can use right now to vibe code and test an MVP.
On October 6, 2026, Bubble shipped Agent 2 (general availability) and Bubble MCP (beta). Soon after, community digests started mentioning an “MCP-only tier,” next to staff-led “what’s next” threads. That mix confuses people. If you’re a non-technical founder turning an idea into a tested MVP with no-code tools and vibe coding, you need to know what the platform can do today. So I went back to the threads to separate confirmed features from forum talk. That matters most if you’re about to put something in front of early customers or investors. What the Forum Threads Actually Say
“MCP-only tier” is a community wish. Bubble hasn’t quietly prepared a pricing tier behind it.
- A user question, not a product plan. In the replies to the October Monthly Community Update, user @7788kit brought up the upcoming Starter price change. It takes effect on October 20, 2026: $39/mo billed monthly or $32/mo billed annually, and it bundles in-editor Agent 2 AI credits. He asked if Bubble might offer an “MCP-only option without Agent2 bundled in.” Staff member @fede.bubble replied that the Starter change is a broader pricing update, not a strict “$7 for AI credits” line item. No one from staff committed to an MCP-only SKU, and no one ruled it out.
- Roadmap brainstorming, not a pricing rollout. Around the same time, @fede.bubble started a separate Meta discussion, “Bubble MCP is here. What’s next?”, asking what the beta unlocks for people. The thread is about product questions: Cursor/CIMD authentication, how ChatGPT clients behave, and gaps in workflows. It isn’t about post-release pricing. Same topic: Bubble MCP on Free With.
A forum discussion is still community feedback. Bubble hasn’t changed its pricing page. Same topic: Bubble Community on Price Transparency.
What You Can Build With Right Now
You might want to vibe code your app quickly and get user feedback without waiting for subscription changes that may never happen. If so, Bubble’s official documentation already covers what you need:
- Available on every tier, Free included. The Bubble MCP beta is open on all tiers, including the Free plan. Bubble doesn’t state any request limits for MCP operations.
- No Bubble AI credits used. Editing your app through MCP doesn’t spend Bubble AI credits. Community member @georgecollier pointed out that you can bring your own AI provider, such as a Cursor or ChatGPT setup you already have, and connect it to Bubble without touching native AI credits.
- Your app and plan limits still apply. MCP works only within your user permissions and the features of your app’s plan. If a premium capability isn’t part of your current plan, an external AI won’t get you around that.
- The beta has known gaps. The docs say deployment, runtime logs, and branch merging aren’t supported over MCP yet. You have to do those in the Bubble editor yourself, and so do I.
The Takeaway for Fast MVP Validation
I wouldn’t hold off on an MVP while waiting for an MCP-only subscription. You can already connect your external AI tools to Bubble MCP on an existing plan and iterate quickly with your own AI provider subscription. Spend that time on the core value for your first users. Collect their feedback, and learn what the beta can and can’t do today.
