Cursor Still Isn’t on Official Bubble MCP: the Digest Doesn’t Explain Why — Don’t Wait for a Tile; Keep the Editor as a Workspace
Cursor is missing from Bubble’s official MCP documentation. Here’s what the forum workaround actually means and how non-technical founders can keep shipping their MVP without waiting.
What the Official Documentation Actually Says
One question keeps coming up in builder communities: why isn't Cursor listed in Bubble's official MCP integration guide? If you're an indie founder or a non-technical builder using vibe-coding and no-code to launch an MVP, this matters. Speed to market is your biggest advantage.
I went looking for the reason. The public materials don't explain any strategy. They only give documented technical facts.
Bubble’s MCP documentation (manual.bubble.io/help-guides/ai/bubble-mcp) has step-by-step setup for exactly five clients:
- Claude
- Claude Code
- ChatGPT
- Codex
- VS Code with GitHub Copilot Same topic: Bubble MCP Security: Five Questions.
The FAQ says plainly that tools like Cursor and Composio don't support Bubble's Client ID Metadata Documents (CIMD) authentication flow “yet,” and that compatibility work is underway.
The Documentation vs. Forum Gap
This is where a lot of founders get confused when they look for workarounds. Here's the timeline:
- Launch day (October 6, 2026): Early users tried to connect Cursor and hit dynamic client registration (DCR) errors. Bubble staff put this down to the CIMD compatibility gap.
- Forum update (October 15, 2026): A Bubble staff member posted that Cursor is now supported if you provide a client metadata URL (
https://mcp.bubble.io/oauth/clients/cursor.json) in the client ID configuration. - Current manual status: As of October 19, 2026, the official manual and FAQ still have no Cursor setup section, and the unsupported notice is still there. Worth reading next: Official Bubble MCP: Beta Status,.
| When | Forum / staff guidance | Official manual & FAQ |
|---|---|---|
| October 6, 2026 (launch day) | Early users hit dynamic client registration (DCR) errors; Bubble staff attributed this to the CIMD compatibility gap | |
| October 15, 2026 (forum update) | Cursor is supported if you provide client metadata URL https://mcp.bubble.io/oauth/clients/cursor.json in the client ID configuration |
|
| October 19, 2026 (current) | No Cursor setup section; unsupported notice still present |
So here's where it stands: a forum-backed experimental method exists, but Cursor doesn't yet have official first-class client status in Bubble's published help docs.
Why You Shouldn't Wait for a One-Click Tile to Launch Your MVP
If you're testing a product hypothesis, trying to get your first pilot users, or pitching angel investors, waiting for an official connector tile in Cursor just slows you down.
I wouldn't let this gap pause development, for two reasons:
- Beta MCP has built-in limits. Even on the officially supported clients, Bubble MCP doesn't deploy your app, merge version control branches, read application server logs, or configure OAuth plugin credentials. You still do all of that by hand in the visual editor.
- The Bubble visual editor is still your source of truth. It doesn't matter whether an AI agent changed your schema through MCP or you wrote the logic yourself. You still test responsive layouts, preview workflows, and enforce privacy rules inside the Bubble editor. Same topic: Bubble MCP Account-Wide vs Per-App:.
Pragmatic Workflow for Fast MVP Delivery
If you're validating an idea right now, this is how I'd split the work:
- Use Cursor as your thinking space. Brainstorm fast, map your database data types, draft workflow sequences, and tighten your product prompts there.
- Run the build itself from the Bubble visual editor. That's where governance, testing, and the actual deployment happen.
- Stick to supported routes if you need MCP. If you need an agent connected directly to your Bubble app, use one of the five documented clients (Claude or VS Code, for example). You can also try the forum metadata URL, but know that the manual doesn't document that route.
What counts at this stage is customer validation and early revenue. The documentation will catch up when it catches up.
