Starter Web Goes to $39 Tomorrow: I Redid the Math for a New Bubble App, Not One Already Live
Starting October 20, 2026, Bubble's web-only Starter plan costs $39/mo billed monthly. I worked out what that means for non-technical founders and vibecoders validating an MVP, what stays the same, and why AI credits shouldn't complicate the launch.
Tomorrow, October 20, 2026, Bubble raises the list price of its web-only Starter tier. Billed monthly, it goes from $32 to $39 a month. Billed annually, it goes from $29 to $32 a month.
I sat down and redid the launch math for a brand-new project. The short version: one tier changed. You don't need emergency billing changes, speculative AI credit purchases, or panic. This is for non-technical founders shipping an MVP with no-code tools and vibecoding, where keeping early hypothesis testing lean matters most. It covers a new app only.
What Changes on October 20 for a New App
Bubble bills per application, not per account. Every new app has its own commercial path. Here is how I see it:
- Build for free first. You can prototype, set up databases, and iterate on layouts on the Free tier without paying anything.
- The 14-day Starter trial window. The trial is offered only for new apps, and you have to start it within 10 days of creating the app. It requires a $1 card pre-authorization. If you don't cancel, it converts into a paid Starter plan.
- The post-October 20 production rate. Any new app that moves to a paid web-only Starter tier after October 20 pays the new rates: $39/month billed monthly or $32/month billed annually.
For validating a new idea, the difference is $7 a month. If you're testing product-market fit and collecting early customer feedback, that won't stop you from shipping. It's one updated line in your monthly runway.
What Remains Unchanged on the Pricing Page
Bubble clarified that no other plan's list price is affected. The rest of the pricing table stays as it was: Same topic: What Bubble Really Costs for.
- Mobile-only Starter: $49/month billed monthly ($42/month annually).
- Web + Mobile Starter: $69/month billed monthly ($59/month annually).
- Higher tiers: Growth and Team keep their current list prices.
- Workload Units (WU) and overages: The workload model hasn't changed. Paid Starter plans come with standard workload allowances and documented overage pricing, such as $0.30 per 1,000 additional WU when overages are enabled.
- Add-ons and plugins: Bandwidth, dedicated file storage, and third-party marketplace plugins stay on their existing terms.
Why Agent, MCP, and Credits Don't Change Your Launch Math
The price change landed around the same time as the Agent 2 and Bubble MCP announcements. I keep those separate from core hosting costs: Same topic: Bubble MCP on Free With.
- Bubble MCP in beta: App generation sessions, planning workflows, and Bubble MCP actions don't consume plan AI credits.
- Standard monthly allowances: Free includes 500 AI credits, Starter 1,000, Growth 2,000, and Team 4,000 monthly credits. These allowances were introduced on October 6, 2026. The credits go mainly to Agent-driven visual edits and image generation.
- Limits of the double-credit promo: The 2x credit boost running through October 31 applies only to apps created on or before October 6. A new app on Starter starts with the standard 1,000 credits.
- No extra spend required: You don't need to pre-buy credit packs or add-ons just to deploy an MVP. Same topic: Doubled AI Credits End 31.
What I'd Do as a Vibecoder Launching Now
If the goal is to validate customer demand fast:
- Keep development on the Free plan until you're ready for outside users.
- Start the 14-day Starter trial when real user onboarding begins, and do it inside the 10-day window.
- Budget $39/month for your first live validation cycle, not $32.
- Hold off on extra AI credits or add-ons until live usage metrics justify them.
